B.A. Communication
Overview
DEVELOPING WISDOM. ESTABLISHING CONVICTIONS. PRODUCING LEADERS.
Communication touches every realm of life, so The Master’s University uniquely equips students to not only excel in their chosen focus but also do so in a way that will glorify God. One of the essential elements of Christianity is evangelism, and a degree in Communication prepares students with some of the best skills to reach the most significant number of people — whether supporting Christian organizations or working in a secular work environment.
Our classrooms are taught by working professionals who engage students with hands-on experience as well as working as a part of a team. There is a synergy between all emphases, as required in the professional world. Each year they work together to create projects like short films and graphic novels, which can later be used in their professional portfolios. No graduate of the Communication department leaves unprepared.
Emphases
B.A. in Communication degrees are accredited 4-year undergraduate degree programs offered on-campus in Santa Clarita. Students desiring to major in Communication may choose from five available emphases: Communication Studies, Cinema & Digital Arts, Journalism, Creative Writing & Publishing, and Speech Communication. Each emphasis requires 48 units from both core and elective courses. Some General Education and Bible units may be taken through TMU Online. Students may also compile required classes in the TMU IBEX Israel Semester or in the TMU Italy Summer program.

Entrepreneurship in the Digital Age
This course will examine the entrepreneurial power shift in the world of business and what it means for media practitioners, entrepreneurs, and technologists. The disruptive nature of the Internet, open source technologies, and lower barriers-to-entry have prompted a shift in the power from large media companies toward smaller organizations and individuals.
Minors in addition to Biblical Studies
Most students will complete a minor in Biblical Studies by default by completing the 24 units in their GE classes and upper-division requirements across 4 years at TMU. In addition to their major, students can also complete a minor in any of these programs by completing the required 15-27 units, depending on the minor: Accounting, Biblical Studies, Biology, Business Administration, Communication, Computer Science, Education, English, History, Global Studies, Kinesiology & Physical Education, Mathematics, Music, and/or Political Studies.
I’m really blessed to be here and to be under godly teaching every day. I love the diversity you get in the Communication Department. You get to take quite a bit of classes. I’ve taken journalism, public relations and business communication...I have so many different career options I can take because of my major.
