TMU Opera

About

TMU’s first opera was performed in 1990 under the baton of program founder, Dr. Kimberlyn Jones. Directors have changed over the years, but the goal remains the same: to create an enjoyable and accessible performance experience while expanding listeners’ horizons in an art form that is worthy of exploration. Whether learning roles, completing character studies, helping with sets and costumes or learning how to create a workable resume in the music industry, the goal of TMU Opera is excellence for the glory of God, the giver of all creativity and beauty.

TMU Opera is typically a semester project that concludes in a staged production. Performances range from selected opera scenes in concert setting to fully staged and costumed shows accompanied by orchestra. Works of the masters as well as more contemporary composers are represented.

“Opera Buddies” is a group created for individuals from our community who love this particular art form and want to help support opera at TMU!
