About
TMU Theatre Arts is a co-curricular program housed in the Communication Department. It is designed to give training and expression in the performing arts alongside any major at the University. Participants and contributors come from all disciplines, dorms, and interests at TMU. Our program offers classes such as Theatre Arts, Theatre Production, and Introduction to Acting, allowing any students to receive formal, credited training in the performing arts.
We instill students with a biblical philosophy of the performing arts while giving them experience in the craft of acting and/or the many aspects of production. We emphasize the process as much as the product, which enables us to have an others-focused theatre program. This mindset pervades everything we do as we strive together to serve with our varied gifts. Many of our graduates have continued on to jobs in the arts industry or teaching, and some have pursued graduate school. We love seeing the various ways they use their skills and become gospel witnesses.
Our Mission
Theatre Arts at The Master’s University exists to glorify God and impact our community through thoughtful and excellent presentation of plays or musicals and by enjoying human creativity as a reflection of the Creator, as becomes a child of God.

Our Directors
Tricia Hulet
Tricia was brought on to revive and build the theatre arts program at Master’s in 2008. She has directed and produced more than two dozen full length plays and musicals, performed in over a dozen roles on stage, and continues to act whenever possible in various mediums. Tricia received her M.A. and B.A. degrees from The Master’s College in biblical counseling and is an ACBC certified counselor. While at TMC she minored in music, studied voice, and was extensively involved in musical theatre. Through her lifelong experience in the arts, theological training in striving to understand human nature, and a commitment to the sufficiency and authority of Scripture, the Lord has given her a passion to pursue good storytelling and develop a biblical worldview of the performing arts. Helping students learn and own this philosophy is life giving. Tricia and her husband, Dave - a pastor in Santa Barbara - met here as students, and count it a joy to have served together in ministry for over twenty years.
Seth Bowling
Seth moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry and attend The Master’s University where he earned a B.A. degree in communication. Some of his recent credits as an actor include a lead role in a feature film opposite Nick Searcy and a supporting role in a feature film produced by Universal that was recently released on Netflix. Seth also works full time as a stunt performer and camera operator on various productions that include television shows, commercials, and music videos. Seth performed in two productions with TMU Theatre Arts while a student - Nick Cristano in the Fall 2017 revival production of “Over the River and Through the Woods,” and Henry Tilney in “Northanger Abbey.” Now as an Assistant Director, he is excited for the opportunity to give back to the current students what he has learned through this program and his time in the industry. He is excited to work in this capacity alongside the cast and crew to display God’s glory both on and off the stage.
Audition Information
Tricia Hulet talks about how plays are an imperfect mirror to life. I think the experience of being in theater is also a mirror to life, in some ways. You learn a lot of life lessons in an enclosed space; you can make mistakes and learn and grow, and then you can go out into the world a better person.
Moriah Pringle, AlumnaBehind The Scenes
The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie is the longest running play in the world! This year is the celebration of the 70th year since its opening in 1952 in London. The play has been running continuously in the West End since its opening until March 2020, temporarily closing and then reopening in May 2021. TMU Theatre Arts is excited to bring this standard of "Whodunit's" back to our stage this fall!
