Selecting a major as you begin your four-year journey should reflect several things about who you are and where you want to go. It’s important to take stock in your personal passions, your interests, and your strengths as you explore careers that will bring you fulfillment. We offer specific assessments that can help you to identify strengths, values, and skills and then showcase careers that are well aligned with those results.

ASSESSMENTS We offer three different tools designed to identify personality traits and interests of our students as well as recommend specific careers that might be aligned with those results. These include:

  • Strong Inventory

WHAT CAN I DO WITH THIS MAJOR? TMU’s Career Services staff can be very helpful for students as they consider various majors and what careers might align with them. Whether you’re exploring majors or searching for information about your chosen field, this we are here to help you connect majors to careers. Learn about typical career areas and types of employers that hire people with each major, as well as strategies to make you a more marketable candidate.

OCCUPATIONAL OUTLOOK HANDBOOK This tool is offered through the United States Department of Labor and can help you find career information on duties, education and training, pay, and outlook for hundreds of occupations.

O-NET ONLINE This career exploration instrument has detailed descriptions of the world of work for use by job seekers, workforce development and HR professionals, students, researchers, and more.

HANDSHAKE Handshake gives you access to hundreds of internships and jobs and works as a conduit for uploading your resume and other documents directly for employers.
