Please obtain new proof of funding, complete the I-20 Request form, and submit both documents to the ISO. Your updated I-20 stating your new source of funding will be ready for pick up 5 business days after the date of submission.

  • Name Correction / Change

    • Complete and submit the I-20 Request from to the ISO. Your updated I-20 with your name correction will be ready for pick up 5 business days after the date of submission.

**Note: If you have changed your name (due to marriage or other reasons) and the name change reflects on your passport, then you must also complete the steps above to obtain an updated I-20.

New I-20

  • Change in education level

F-1 students who have a change in education level (pursuing a new degree objective) must request a Change of Education Level (COEL) I-20 to reflect their new degree objective from the ISO. You must request a COEL I-20 prior to the start of your new degree program. Please follow the steps below to obtain a COEL I-20:

    • Complete the I-20 Request form and Obtain an Admission’s Letter from the new degree objective’s office and submit this to ISO.
  • F-2 dependent’s I-20

F-1 students who have dependent(s) and would like their dependent(s) to come to the U.S. on an F-2 visa must first obtain an F-2 Dependent I-20 from the ISO. Once issued a TMU F-2 I-20 has been issued, the student’s dependent can schedule an interview appointment at a U.S. Embassy/Consulate to obtain an F-2 visa to enter the U.S. Please follow the steps below to obtain an F-2 I-20 from TMU:

    • Complete top and bottom portion of I-20 Request form.

    • Obtain a copy of your marriage certificate (if the dependent is your spouse) or official family register, a copy of your dependent’s passport photo page, and proof of financial support for your dependent: $4,500 for spouse, and $2000 for each child.

*Dependent must be a married spouse or child only. Non-married significant others are not eligible for an F-2 visa.

**If marriage certificate is not in English, please provide a certified translation from a notary or translation service provider.

  • Readmitted to TMU

Undergraduate F-1 students who took a leave of absence for two quarters or more must apply for readmissions to TMU through the Registrar’s Office and be readmitted to TMU in order for an I-20 to be issued from the ISO. Students who have been academically dismissed from TMU must also apply for readmissions. Please see TMU Registrar’s Readmission procedures. After you have been readmitted to TMU, please follow the steps to obtain an I-20 from the ISO.
